Daddycat loves this video.
You may have heard about cat excercise wheels, but this is the best video of them all. If you skip to 2:08 you’ll see a cat actually galloping! I’ve never seen this in a cat excercise wheel video before.
Cats have class, and rarely go faster than a brisk canter, but this cat really shows how graceful and powerful us cats really are!
Unfortnately, Daddycat doesn’ t love me enough to spend $700 and buy me one…. oh no.. He’s gonna make me one. Has anyone seen any plans to make one out of wood? The difficult bit seems to be making the running platform, that’s a curved circle about 30cm x 1m diameter.
Can any woodworking kitties out there offer a suggestion??

Hello, I have an idea on how you could make one, but it wouldn’t be exactly easy/cheap depending on whether you can get what I’m talking about. There are these barrels I see all the time at schools, in shops and so forth made of chipboard or corkboard of something (some kind of mulched up wood particle turned into a tube and given a bottom to work like a barrel). You can also use a round plastic bin if you can’t find them.
If you can get one of these from a hardware store or a shop that sells things for sewing/craft shops or other kinds of storage containers, you can cut up the bottom of it (so that it’s a slice however wide you want your wheel’s running path to be), and mount it on a turning joint to the wall (easiest option), or make a stand for it. There are joints you can buy at hardware stores that turn the way you want, or you can try modifying one of those fishing-reel style gadgets and glue the backing plate to the moving piece. Hope that made sense.
