Scabby Lip Disease??

Hi everyone!

Daddycat’s been lazy recently. He says he’s got writers block, but whenever I go for a cuddle, he’s playing some game called Grand theft Auto 4.

So now he has something to write about.

I have a little bald patch on my bottom lip. It often has little flakes of something dark on it, and we don’t thinkĀ  it’s food, (even though I AM a messy eater) as it’s only on this patch.

The flakes might be blood, but we’ve put them on damp tissue paper, and they haven’t gone red.

When he touches it, it doesn’t hurt me either, but I don’t like to be held down and manhandled so he hasn’t had a good look at it.

The patches are on both sides, although not the same size, so they could be birth marks.

Could you all look in a mirror and see if you have them too?

  • It might be feline acne, Freya…you usually get that from eating out of plastic bowls…you should switch to metal or ceramic bowls if you are eating out of plastic. Tell your daddycat he can wash it gently with some mild soap…our vet told our mom to use phisoderm (sp?). It should clear up in a few days…

  • We agree with what the Island Cats said. Our Maya used to get them too!

  • We agree about the feline acne too, our brother Max at the Bridge used to get it. We hope your Daddycat will help you get it cleared up really, really soon!

  • I think it is likely feline acne, too. Harley gets it a lot because of his EGC, and he also gets big swollen pink sores on his chin sometimes. We have tried everything with Harley and here is what works for us:
    1. As the Island Cats said, use only glass or stainless steel bowls
    2. We gently clean Harley’s chin with Hibiclens and rinse it well (it’s the same as chlorhexaderm)
    3. Harley’s acne has responded really well to fatty acid supplements. We use Skin Formula 3V oil; it’s basically a fish oil.
    4. If it gets bad or infected, antibiotics will help. When Harley’s got really bad a couple of times, he got a Convenia antibiotic injection and it got better within a week or so.

Freya, yours does not look too bad. I hope it goes away soon!

ps: Do not tell Harley I let on about his acne problem.

  • Da one dat came before used to get that…feline acne. Da others already sed what to do. We haf fancy stoneware bowls now dat mom washes effury day so we don’t get it.

  • Yup, we agree wif da ofurs – kitty acne. Switch to stainless steel or ceramic dishes fur food an water an it’ll be all better in no time. “Scabby Lip Disease” certainly sounds more heroic dan Kitty Acne, tho!

  • Oh, I’m so sorry about your little scabby. You still look very handsome though.

  • Sounds like all this helpful advice I’ll have those beauty bumps gone in no time!

  • We have not experienced this, but think you have lots of good advice!

Freya, all you have to do to get him off the couch is pee on it when he gets up. The next time he sits down he’ll smell and and then…the rest is up to you my dear. Or better yet, pee on the game console.

    Oodles,

I can’t believe my babycat’s got acne! And now all the world knows! Poor Freyzi-Fru. She’s had her tea on a metal bowl already so hopefully back to normal soon! Thanks for all your advice!
    love from Freya’s Mammacat

  • Hey, we aren’t sure what that is but if we had to guess… we’d say it was acne too. Only cause it occurs around where the mouth touches the bowl! We hope it goes away soon!

  • I’ve never had that before, but I think the others could be right about the acne.

  • Hi! We looked and neither of us have that. But I hope that clears up soon! xoxo Romeo and Pugsley

  • Freya, I wish I could help but never heard about it. Just hope this is not to serious. Really appreciate your visit. Have a great week!

Daddycat could also use a bit of Clearasil – just get him to froth it up a bit in water, gently rub on the foam then rinse it off. If it does get really sore ask him to get you Fuciderm ountment from the vet which works wonders.

  • We hope your acne problem does not hamper your modeling or blogging, Freya. We never would have noticed. OK, we never would have said any thing.

We always use stoneware plates and bowls for that reason as well as others. Plastic does not clean as well as glass and Mom says since it’s already on the floor, that is already icky. Ack!

  • I think you’ve gotten all the good advice already Freya. I hope something here works for you.

  • We hope your feline acne gets better soon. We think you are a gorgeous Bengal feline anyway. ~Co9T

  • Pssst, Freya, it’s me, Chilli. I had exactly the same thing on my mouth the other day only it was pinkish as my snout is pink. The next day I had a bigger one on the other side and the third day both were gone. Go figure! We eat out of ceramic bowls from the start, so not sure what was up there. I hope your scabby thing goes away as fast as mine.
